Sodium Hydroxide 50% during colder months merit heightened attention due to its crystallization temperature at approximately 13 °C. Crystallization transforms the liquid form into a solid state, impeding pumping and transfer.

External temperatures, along with the inherent crystallization properties, are beyond our control. It is crucial to exercise caution and awareness when procuring Sodium Hydroxide 50% during colder seasons.

At Marine Care, Sodium Hydroxide 50% is stored in heated bulk tanks at 30 °C. In colder months (November through March in ARA), we exclusively fill IBCs on demand, mere minutes before dispatching them directly to vessels. Our trucks employ insulated trailers to slow down the cooling rate.

For deliveries via third-party logistics companies (e.g., barges), coordinate with your vessel's agent to schedule barge loading upon the truck's arrival. The barge should promptly depart once loading is completed.

Despite our preventive measures, crystallization risk is inherent in dealing with natural phenomena. This risk is acknowledged at the time of ordering. Importantly, crystallization is reversible, and the product will return to a liquid state once vessels reach warmer temperatures, facilitating successful transfer.

Crew Awareness: Ensure your crew comprehends the urgency of promptly initiating pumping upon receiving IBCs onboard, be it from trucks or barges.
