Careclean Passivation Liquid

Careclean Passivation Liquid is based on nitric acid and non-ionic surface active substances. Careclean Passivation Liquid provides austenitic stainless steel with a protective chromiumoxide layer after pickling or restores the chromiumoxide layer of stainless steel. The passive layer of austenitic stainless steel can be damaged over time due to carrying high concentration strong acid (such as: phosphoric, sulfuric) cargoes. In most cases, the passive layer did not get enough time to restore itself before charging the cargo. Careclean Passivation Liquid will aid and accelerate the passivation process after pickling, in case passivation by ambient air is not possible or insufficient.

Careclean Passivation Liquid is mainly used for passivation of austenitic stainless steel tanks and pipelines. It may be used by means of circulation, spraying or in immersion baths.

Introduce enough undiluted Careclean Passivation Liquid into the tank to get circulation going. The treatment time is approx. 2 hours. After circulation drain the system and rinse thoroughly with a good quality (Chlorides < 1 mg/l or ppm) demineralized water. After drying, test the passivity of the stainless steel using the Passivation Test Kit or the Oxyilzer (digital passivity metering device).

Careclean Passivation Liquid is sprayed undiluted on the surface and is left to react for 15 - 30 minutes, making sure the solution does not dry during this period of time. After this, rinse thoroughly with plenty of demineralized water. After drying, test the passivity of the stainless steel using the Passivation Test Kit or the Oxilyzer (digital passivity measuring device).

Fill a plastic or plastic lined bath with undiluted Careclean Passivation Liquid. Submerge the parts into the bath and leave them to react for 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the degree of austenitic steel. Remove the parts from the bath and spray them with a powerful water jet. Demineralized water should be used for this purpose.
