eCare Portal: How digital control changes maintenance on vessels

GTM-MC-HR-30

Keeping cooling and boiler systems on board in good condition has always depended on regular testing, logging and follow-ups. With a lot of manual labor in several stages, it can be hard to get a clear picture of how your system is performing.

That is why we developed the eCare Portal, a digital solution for customers who want full control and insight into their vessels, as an add-on to our water treatment services.

From routine task to live insights

Water systems rarely fail overnight, the problems tend to build up slowly. It can be a value creeping out of range, a dosing routine that was skipped during a busy port call or a trend nobody had the time to look at. By the time the effects show up as scaling, corrosion or reduced efficiency, the cause might be weeks old already.

Digital logging changes what a test result is. Instead of a single number on a sheet, every reading becomes part of a continuous history of data. The crew can see where a value is heading, not just where it is today. When a value moves out of its desired range, the eCare monitor gives automated advice straight away, so a response happens when the problem is an easy-fix.

What does this mean for a maintenance crew?

For the crew on deck, the eCare portal means less interpretation and more action. Automated advice tells them about any deviations and how to act on it, which can be especially valuable for less experienced crews.

It also means continuity. The system's history stays in the portal, so a new engineer joining the vessel can see how it has behaved over the last months, instead of trying to piece together a hand written log.

Because the portal works both on- and offline, logging continues when connections are poor. It can also be installed as an app, which makes it easy to use on the spot. For customers under contract, our experts in the field can follow the data as well. Your crew is never alone with a red value and time pressing challenges.

Cost and uptime

The biggest maintenance costs are rarely the ones you plan for. They are the unplanned ones: an unexpected repair, an inspection that finds more than anyone hoped, a vessel that is off-hire when it should be earning. Catching deviations early is the most direct way to avoid those. A documented history of system performance also supports maintenance decisions with data rather than assumptions. It becomes easier to plan interventions, to justify them, and to avoid unnecessary ones.

Built around your operation

No two fleets operate the same way. Logging values in eCare can be customized, so specific systems and situations on your vessels can be built into the module and appear in your reports. You don’t have to change your routines to fit a tool. Our tool adapts to you.
